and now please read on . . .
The Hamoaze Band is, unsurprisingly, "for hire"; we play all kinds of venues from local pubs to folk festivals to private parties.
We are always pleased to help with publicising any event for which we've been asked to play; we can and will (unless you tell us not to) supply A4 posters (we can supply A5 flyers if required - please ask). Provided we are reasonably local to you, we'll be happy to help distribute promotional material too.
Agreed fees are payable in cash on the night, please. We're happy to provide an invoice/receipt.
We mostly play acoustic instruments, but we do amplify them.
Depending on venue size we have two PA systems, a little one and a big one. The big one will handle any venue up to 400/500 capacity. We aim not to play at deafening volumes - even if the kit, when it's set up, can look a bit intimidating! It would be normal at one of our concerts to be able to have a conversation without difficulty towards the rear of the room. We also have our own small lighting rig (LED, so very low electricity usage).
This means we will need a power supply
(a minimum of two plug sockets within a stretch of where you want us to play, please).
Very Important:
We like to arrive to set up in good time.
If you want us to start at 9pm, for example, we'd be grateful for access to your venue at or around 6:30. Afternoon access for an evening gig is even better!
Technical Requirements:
In the jargon this could be called "the technical rider". We're, honestly, very reasonable people and almost anything can be worked around if we know about it in advance - please chat to us if you have any queries at all about this.
Our normal show: a performance area (a stage would be great, but we know that's not always possible!) big enough for four people, including one piano and one harmonium. A minimum of two 13 amp electricity sockets close by to the performance area - three or four would be nice.
Plump Dead Thighs and Pretty Blue Eyes: please see diagram below for minimum performance area. We are very adaptable and will manage in most spaces to put on a good show - so please don't take this as absolute gospel, if in doubt please ask! We also need a separate dressing room or at least a screened off area with access to the auditorium for entrances and exits during the show.
What do we cost?
No band is daft enough to publish their fees online. Please do contact us if you're considering booking us, we'll be happy to talk money alongside any other queries you might have.
That said - as a guideline, if you have a ticket buying audience, we'll be asking for a guaranteed minimum payment + a percentage of the ticket sales (whichever is the greater); the guaranteed minimum and the percentage will be based on your ticket price, the size of venue and expected audience. If you have a free entrance venue, or an invited (non-paying) audience, we'll be asking for a fixed fee.
A final note - our original material is published and we do claim from the PRS/PPL every time we play them live. This in no way affects your licence or costs. If your venue is not PRS/PPL licensed for musical entertainment, please tell us beforehand so we don't claim and land you in hot water!
